The good news is us freelance designers are cheaper than agencies, as we have fewer overheads – no big offices or other staff to pay. If you have a larger design project in mind that you would need a team for, please do let me quote as I do know lots of other excellent freelance designers who I am more than willing to team up with.
All prices exclude VAT which I will add on and I charge via York-based Transparent Design, a micro agency which I co-own with my freelance creative developer husband Mike Rigley. These are guide prices only, so please note that I offer a free half hour chat to get to know your brand and quote properly on projects. I also offer discounted rates for charities.
My freelance design rates are indicative only so these prices are for ideas of rates and not necessarily what I will charge you as I quote on each project individually as I see each client as being unique and having unique needs.
Logo design
- Logo refresh (update of existing – eg neatening up, update of font and / or colours) from £200
- Logos starts at £750 including a branding exercise & research and may include iconography.
- Initial kick off meeting with you & a short questionnaire for you to fill out
- I research similar logos and companie
- We have a meeting to discuss these logos & get your feedback on the branding direction
- I design some initial logo ideas
- You feedback on the logos
- There will be up to 3 rounds of changes to the logos
- I will hand over a simple branding template with colours & fonts and the logo in various formats including vector and versions for print & digital including with transparencies.
Timings: It would take approx 2-3 weeks to finish (dependent on feedback / meetings etc).
Social media design
I can create social media graphics that work across platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram & X. I professionally redeisgn each graphic so it fits the size needed. I use Adobe to do this so your graphics will be unique and not look like other designs. I have helped Agencies with this for clients when they need batch designs. The prices below are for the first one, subsequent designs will be cheaper.
- Bespoke social media graphics from £100 / graphic plus £25 to resize
- Canva graphics using Adobe elements to create something bespoke from £120 / design
Timings: I aim to get social media graphics designed and signed off within a fortnight.

How It Works:
- Initial Consultation: We’ll start with a 30-minute meeting to discuss your site and its challenges.
- Questionnaire: You’ll answer a few key questions about your website, including your target audience and what you want users to achieve on the site.
- Audit & Recommendations: I’ll analyse your site’s key pages and provide one of two options for delivering my findings:
- Option 1: A video of me using your website talking while using it with suggestions of how to improve it to refer back to at your convenience.
- Option 2: A one-hour video call with you and your team to discuss my findings and discuss your concerns and answer any questions.
- Option 3: A detailed, visual report (for example layout suggestions as a PDF guide) to refer back to at your convenience.
All prices cover pages, regardless of complexity and will also make some general suggestions to the overall website structure.
- Video Call Option 1: £450

- Visual Report Option: £600 (covers up to 4 pages)
- Additional Pages: £100 per page
Timings: if our diaries allow this can be done as quickly as in a week or two.
Website design
The cost of designing a website depends what you need on it – I compare websites to houses – a 1 bed bungalow costs a different amount to build than a 6 bed detached house, and each room has different complexities, just like the pages on a website.
I design with the user in mind so always make sure I work closely with you on the content of your website.
Your website will not look the same as someone else’s (especially your competitors!) and will be customised to your content. I include image resizing and optimisation, the websites are SEO friendly, secure and come with a CMS (content management system).
I can create websites on a monthly retainer if you are unable to pay for one up front.
What isn’t included: photography, text, SEO, hosting, url, web development.
Bespoke website design
From £1500. This includes 2-3 homepage designs and 2 other page designs. I can work this way with development agencies or developers for example.
Price does not including development – I can get a quote on this separately.
Webpage redesign / refresh
From £200/ page
I redesign a single (usually home) page with usability in mind and this includes a half an hour phone or video call to you beforehand.
Simple 1 page WordPress templated websites
From £800. This includes an hour’s chat to get to know you and your customers. You will need to supply pictures and copy and branding (or I can design a logo for you).
3+ page custom WordPress websites
A more complicated site with more functionality and custom design can vary in cost from around £1500-6000.
Timings: once I am handed over the assets, I can ususally create a simple 1 page website within a week. Larger sites can take weeks to months.
These are just a few examples but please note, this does not include printing costs:

I can also design stickers and other promotional materials.
Timings: provided I am handed over assets, I can usually get more simple graphic design work done within a week.
Illustration
I need to quote individually for illustrations as it depends on exactly what is needed, what style and what complexity. I can design icons, maps & simple characters.
Prices for Service as a System (SaaS) and phone app designs are quoted per project depending on the scope of what is needed.
White label design
I do white label design for several agencies and can work this way on an ad-hoc or retainer basis. I generally charge a day rate or hourly rate for this but would need a chat to find out more.
Design consultancy
Design consultancy is great if you’re wanting ad-hoc help or advice on design or setting up a business.
Half a day (online) consultancy from £250
How it can work:
On a discovery call, I come up with ideas for how I can help you and your business – this can work well if you are a new business. I am able to offer consultancy on this basis, as well as on a design basis. For example, where you can receive free help and information about grants, how to get started networking, where your ideal clients may be based and so on.
Basically I give you tips to get you off the ground, or how to get out of a rut if you have already started your business.
PLEASE NOTE – I tend to work remotely so unless you live very locally to me, I would charge extra for in person meetings or working in your office.
