I have been there – I’ve had a few personal designp portfolio websites now. I got to the point 2 years ago where I was embarrassed to give out my url. My last website didn’t reflect where I was in my business or my brand values – it was outdated, and my designs I was showing off were old ones so they didn’t reflect my current freelance design skills. It didn’t have a CMS so I had to use html to update it which was also made me feel frustrated.

Although I love designing bespoke sites, for mine I used WordPress as it was quicker and I was more in control. However, for some people, a bespoke website is what they need – especially if they want to be unique in their field.

Showing off my new website made me feel proud and professional.  I felt so relieved and achieved to have ticked it off my to-do list and I love updating it now.

Potential clients now feel less frustrated – they find content easily as it isn’t just one long website and I have added much more information on there like frequently asked questions and case studies.

I hope I come across as friendly and professional and someone people want to get to know – I have used bright colours, relaxed photos and copy which reflects how I speak – I don’t use (much!) jargon, or over complicate things.

I hope they feel more brand loyalty towards me –  if they love my website, they are more likely to use me to build and design theirs, or use me for their design work.
